SOUTHINGTON – Annie got her gun.

With time running out and the game tied, Annie Freer ripped through the lane and banked in a layup Tuesday to give eighth-seeded Southington a 45-43 victory over No. 25 Cheshire in the first round of the Class LL tournament.(more)

SOUTHINGTON — For New Britain freshmen Daniella Markowski and Jessica Chudy, Wednesday night’s road game against Southington wasn’t another freshman-JV game doubleheader.

This time, the first-year players were suiting up for the Golden Hurricanes’ varsity team for the first time. And even though Symone Roberts picked apart the Blue Devils to the tune of 31 points and eight rebounds en route to a dominating 52-24 New Britain win, coach Karen Byrne decidedly praised the play of her new backcourt duo after the win.(more)
